A road trip is just the ticket for hand stitching.
I'd stitched on facings following Kathy Loomis' perfect faced quilt tute. Thanks to the three hour drive and quiet moments, hand stitching was finished before the return trip.
Attached the sleeve during minutes in the waiting room. Done! Yay! The birth of finished quilt no. 3.
WOW! Terrific piece and its finished!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! And I also really like Kathleen Loomis' facing process. I went on a quilting retreat in June with some of the folks from the local quilt guild, which is predominantly traditional quilting. (They have required that the application photo for the upcoming guild show have the entire quilt shown with the binding showing on the front. I can't do that with facings, so that has effectively eliminated me from entering any quilts in the show.) At the retreat, I taught one of the former guild presidents how to do facings using Kathleen's techniques. Now others keep on emailing me to give them her blogsite with the tutorial. So we seem to be making progress in broadening the views of the guild!
ReplyDeleteI love the composition in this quilt, and your quilting is great!
